Russian PM Advocates for Swift Implementation of EAEU-Iran Free Trade Agreement

02 February

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has called for the expedited completion of all procedures necessary for the entry into force of the free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and Iran.

"The free trade agreement with Iran was signed late last year. Its implementation will significantly expand opportunities for our companies to access the Iranian market. It is essential to expedite all procedures for the agreement to come into effect," Mishustin stated during the EAEU Intergovernmental Council meeting.

He also mentioned that discussions are ongoing regarding a temporary free trade agreement with Mongolia and improvements to the existing agreement with Vietnam. Progress has been made in negotiations with Egypt, and talks with the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia are underway. Mishustin underscored the importance of these efforts in light of the EAEU's shift towards more promising markets and friendly states.

Mishustin highlighted the need for maximum effort to successfully implement measures outlined in the roadmap for developing economic cooperation with China. He also noted the expansion of ties with regional associations, particularly the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Reflecting on Russian President Vladimir Putin's remarks, Mishustin expressed confidence that the Eurasian integration project holds strategic significance for each member state and that the union can elevate its partnership to new heights to achieve success across all sectors, create favorable business conditions, and improve the quality of life for citizens of the "five" states.
