Russian tourist flow to Turkey in February is 2.6 times higher than before

Tourist flow from Russia to Turkey in February 2023 increased 2.6 times compared to the same period in 2019 and amounted to 227.7 thousand visits. This was reported by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) with reference to the data of the Ministry of culture and tourism of Turkey.


"In the last month of winter, Turkey recorded 227,695 visits of Russian citizens (an increase of +103% to February 2022, +161% to February 2021, +112.4% to February 2020 and +159.5% to February 2019)," the report said.


While in February 2019, Russia did not rank among the top 5 leaders in terms of tourist flow to Turkey, in February 2023 it leads in terms of the volume of entry to this country. The second place in terms of tourist flow is Bulgaria, the third is Germany. As usual for the winter months a majority of Russian tourists in February visited Istanbul (65.8% share, 149.9 thousand visits). Another 26.5% of Russians in February visited Antalya (60.3 thousand visits), told ATOR.

 

According to statistics of the Ministry of tourism of Turkey, from December 2022 to February 2023 794.8 thousand Russian citizens visited the country. This is twice as much as the previous winter, and 2.9 times more than in the winter of 2018-2019. Thus, last winter season Turkey was the leader among all foreign destinations for the Russian tourists, outrunning the UAE, Egypt and Thailand, summed up the association.
