Tajikistan is exploring the prospect of becoming part of the specialized service of the Russian Federation, known as "Agroexpress," which facilitates the expedited transportation of agricultural products via rail. This information is outlined in the roadmap extending until 2025, a document jointly signed by Tajikistan's Minister of Transport, Azim Ibrohim, and his Russian counterpart, Vitaly Savelyev, in Moscow. The press center of Tajikistan's Transport Ministry has communicated this development.
"In accordance with the practical action plan (roadmap) for cooperation in the transport sector between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation for 2023-2025, the parties will explore the potential inclusion of Tajikistan in the 'Agroexpress' project," the ministry stated.
The agency highlighted that incorporating the republic into this initiative has the potential to expedite the delivery timelines for perishable goods and mitigate risks associated with factors that could impact the quality of the products.
The "Agroexpress" project is a specialized service for facilitating swift container transportation by rail, managed by JSC "Russian Railways" and the Russian Export Center. This service enables the efficient transportation of agro-industrial cargo to Turkey, CIS countries, and China. Since 2021, the project has been expanded to include the Russia-Uzbekistan direction.
