The construction of an industrial technopark in Dushanbe, modeled after Russia's "Khimgrad" in Kazan, is set to begin soon following the signing of an intergovernmental agreement between Tajikistan and Russia. This was announced by Tajikistan's Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Sherali Kabir, during a press conference in response to a question from TASS.
“We are preparing to sign an intergovernmental agreement between Tajikistan and Russia on the creation of a joint technological industrial park. Internal approval procedures are already underway, and we expect to complete them soon, after which work on the technopark will begin,” the minister stated. He added that the park will be built on the site of a former machinery plant in Dushanbe. Kabir emphasized that technoparks represent a new industrial concept where private businesses invest and utilize cutting-edge equipment. "We have observed the success of similar projects in Kazan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and other CIS countries. This is a highly effective and economically viable approach," he noted.
The minister also revealed that under President Emomali Rahmon's directive, Tajikistan plans to establish 30 technoparks. “Eight technoparks have already been completed, but they are small, localized projects. The Dushanbe technopark will be a large-scale project offering better tax and other incentives to attract major strategic investors,” he explained. Additionally, discussions are underway to create joint technoparks with China, India, and other countries’ equipment manufacturers.
