Tours to Turkey and Egypt now cost Russians twice as much, but demand for travel to these countries is not reduced, said executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Maya Lomidze.
"Turkey and Egypt, despite the fact that prices have increased, are still the leading destinations in terms of volume. Everything is twice as expensive. I think that now it is quite difficult to choose a group of low-cost foreign destinations. Everything has risen in price", said Lomidze on the air of the "Moscow Talk" radio station agreeing with the assumption that the decline in prices is not worth waiting.
According to her, the price increase is formed by the high demand. "Summer is high season, it's very hot in Egypt, because it is an autumn-winter destination. Nevertheless, taking into consideration the situation, the demand is rather high, there is a certain lack of transportation - not so acute as in May-June" , said Lomidze.
In addition, continued ATOR head, hotels in Egypt and Turkey are trying to compensate for the losses incurred during two years of pandemic COVID-19.
"As a result, we get a price increase, which at the moment is not reflected in the demand, people are willing to go for such money," she said.
