The trade turnover between Russia and Kazakhstan in the current year may reach a record figure of $23 billion, the ambassador of Kazakhstan in Russia Yermek Kosherbayev said at the plenary session of the VI Caspian Media Forum.
"An optimistic forecast that this year we will reach a record trade turnover. We assume [that the trade turnover will be] $23 billion," he said.
The ambassador added that between January and June 2021, bilateral trade totaled nearly $11 billion, a 27 percent increase over the same period in 2020.
According to the diplomat, Russia remains a key political, trade and economic partner of Kazakhstan, but "the potential of bilateral ties is far from exhausted".
