Foreign Ministers of Caspian Littoral States to Convene in Moscow on December 5

The foreign ministers of the Caspian littoral states are scheduled to meet on December 5 in Moscow under the chairmanship of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. This announcement was made during a briefing by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian MFA.

 

"A meeting of the foreign ministers of the Caspian littoral states, namely Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Turkmenistan, is scheduled for December 5 in Moscow under the chairmanship of our Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov," stated Zakharova.

 

She highlighted that this event marks the commencement of a new regular ministerial dialogue as per the mandate agreed upon at the sixth Caspian summit in Ashgabat in June 2022.

 

The diplomat also noted that the meeting is expected to cover "a broad spectrum of issues of mutual interest, with a focus on priorities for the development of Caspian cooperation." Additionally, Zakharova mentioned that several bilateral meetings between Lavrov and his counterparts are scheduled on the sidelines of this ministerial council format.
