The tone of the conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Joe Biden was businesslike, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"You can probably conclude for yourself from the abundance of topics that were named from the two sides as a result of this conversation that the conversation was quite lengthy in time," he added.

The two leaders had a telephone conversation on Tuesday at the initiative of Washington. Biden, in particular, reiterated the goal of building stable and predictable relations with Russia in line with US interests and suggested meeting in a third country in the coming months.

Putin and his US counterpart touched on such issues as strategic security and arms control, the situation in Afghanistan, and global climate change.

The sides also discussed the situation in Donbass. The Russian leader outlined approaches to the political settlement of the conflict based on the Minsk Package of Measures. The presidents agreed to instruct the relevant agencies to work on the problems raised during the conversation.
