Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold comprehensive discussions on all aspects of their bilateral relations. This announcement was made by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during his meeting with Wang Yi, the Director of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee Foreign Affairs Commission Office, Chinese Foreign Minister.
"We are delighted to be back in Beijing and to have this opportunity, on the eve of President Putin's visit to the People's Republic of China, to exchange thoughts regarding our flourishing bilateral relations. First and foremost, I would like to extend our congratulations on the recent 74th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China and the establishment of diplomatic ties between our two nations. These relations are indeed in an upward trajectory, and when our presidents meet in the coming days, they will have a comprehensive discussion on the entire range of these relations," noted the Russian minister.
"We regard this initiative, the project, as a crucial component of advancing cooperation founded on principles of equality and mutual advantage throughout the Eurasian landmass," - Lavrov said. - "It aligns with the trajectory of relations between the Belt and Road project and the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, ASEAN, and other entities operating within this geopolitical and geo-economic domain."
He stressed that the Russian side is eager to ensure the success of the forum. "We have full confidence that it will be successful. The sheer participation of nearly 150 delegations from various countries and organizations underscores the significance of this project and its very promising future," he further remarked.
"I'm pleased to have this opportunity today to discuss not only the international agenda but also other matters we'd like to prepare for our leaders' meeting," the Russian foreign minister concluded.
