Russian Ambassador Provides Updates on Russia's Stabilization Efforts in Southern Lebanon

27 October 2023

"The situation in South Lebanon is highly volatile, and any misstep by the parties involved in the conflict could result in severe and tragic consequences," warned Russian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Rudakov, in a statement to TASS.

The Russian ambassador pointed out that the situation in southern Lebanon was already tense before the current events and that the failed US policy in the Middle East over recent years has contributed to this dangerous escalation.

Rudakov reiterated that ensuring the safety of Russian citizens is a top priority for the Russian embassy in these conditions. They have increased their efforts to maintain communication with Russian expatriates living in Lebanon, particularly in the southern areas of the country. Given the current situation, there is a recommendation to refrain from traveling to Lebanon, and citizens who are already there should exercise maximum caution and avoid areas of clashes, shelling, and high risk, while closely following the embassy's messages.

The Russian ambassador expressed hope that reason will prevail in the choices made by the parties directly involved in the conflict, and that a dramatic worsening of the situation can still be avoided. He emphasized that they will be ready to provide all necessary assistance to Russian citizens if needed.
