The Russian Foreign Ministry has called for a renewed focus on establishing a clear "political horizon" for resolving the Palestinian issue. The ministry believes that this approach is essential for achieving lasting peace in the region.
"In addition to addressing the immediate needs of halting violence and providing humanitarian aid to those in need, we believe it is crucial to intensify our efforts toward restoring a clear 'political horizon' for resolving the Palestinian issue. We are confident that only such an approach is essential for achieving lasting peace in the conflict zone," the ministry stated.
The ministry reaffirmed Russia's stance in response to former Israeli Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid's unfounded claims about Russia's alleged support for Hamas, as reported by the Russian-language Israeli news outlet "Vesti" on January 31. The foreign ministry categorically denied these accusations, describing them as a "gross distortion" of Russia's position.
The Russian foreign ministry also condemned the attack on Israel on October 7 and expressed its efforts to secure the release of hostages held in the Gaza Strip, including Russian and Israeli citizens. However, the ministry emphasized that the events of October 7 cannot justify collective punishment of all Palestinians.
In a separate interview, the ministry addressed Lapid's dismissal of Russia's superpower status, attributing it to his own self-created narrative. The foreign ministry pointed out that Russia is not at war with Ukraine; rather, it is the "collective West" that has initiated and is perpetuating a hybrid war against Russia, with Ukrainians serving as pawns in this geopolitical game. The ministry highlighted the West's allocation of over $200 billion to Ukraine for military purposes and to maintain the budget of a bankrupt nation.
The ministry also reiterated President Putin's detailed explanation of the objectives of the special military operation in Ukraine, including the denazification and demilitarization of the country, its recognition as non-aligned and neutral, and the removal of threats to Russian security posed by Ukrainian territory. The ministry criticized Israeli politicians for ignoring the rampant neo-Nazism in Ukraine and for failing to acknowledge the crimes of the Kiev regime, including the murders and systematic discrimination of Russian and Russian-speaking citizens.
