Russian Security Council Views the Current World Situation as Highly Dangerous

27 October 2023

Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Alexei Shevtsov has expressed concerns that the world is currently facing a highly dangerous situation, largely attributing this to the detrimental actions of Western nations.

"We perceive the global situation as extremely dangerous. The primary drivers of this danger are Western states, particularly the United States and the North Atlantic Alliance under their control," stated Alexei Shevtsov during his address at the international conference "Eurasian Security: Reality and Prospects in a Transforming World." The text of his speech was provided by the press service of the Russian Security Council apparatus.

Shevtsov highlighted that the actions of the US, EU, and NATO in supporting the Ukrainian regime and attempting to engage in a military conflict with Russia have effectively terminated years of discussions on establishing a framework for European security. He emphasized that even before the commencement of the security operation (SWO), Western influences over the Ukrainian leadership had disregarded Russian proposals for security guarantees.

As Shevtsov pointed out, there is little doubt that the international relations landscape is undergoing tectonic shifts, with an unmistakable transition toward a multipolar world order.

"This objective trend is starkly opposed by the Western minority, which, in its pursuit to preserve global dominance, spares no effort, resorting to tactics ranging from unilateral sanctions to hybrid warfare. Russia and Belarus serve as vivid examples of the targets of this Western hybrid aggression," he emphasized.
