The Kremlin commented on the new US sanctions

22 December 2020

The Kremlin called the new US sanctions another hostile move.

"We can only regret that yet another leaving US administration prefers to kick the already very bad bilateral US-Russian relations. Every such kick distances us from the moment of normalization and makes it extremely difficult to get out of this detrimental corkscrew for our bilateral relations at all,"  presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.

On the eve, the United States Department of Commerce published a sanctions list, which included 103 companies from Russia and China, associated, in Washington's opinion, with the Armed Forces. In particular, it includes the Defense Ministry, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the special flight unit "Russia", "Rosoboronexport", "Rostec", two companies of "Roscosmos", "MiG" Corporation, JSC "Sukhoi Civil Aircraft", "Tupolev", the United Aircraft Corporation, one of the oldest shipbuilding enterprises of the country "Admiralty Shipyard" as well as other major companies in the aviation, space and other industries.

The document indicates that this is only the first tranche of a list of companies associated with the military. The sale of some American products and technologies will be limited for them.

Russian Ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, noted that Washington decided not to take into consideration the interests of its own business.

Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, commented that the administration of incumbent US President Donald Trump had been hit by a wave of "farewell activity".
