Shoigu calls Egypt a strategic partner of Russia on the African continent

Delegations from the defense departments of Russia and Egypt discussed further cooperation at the seventh meeting of the joint commission on military-technical cooperation (MTC) in Moscow on Tuesday.


"Egypt is a strategic partner of Russia on the African continent. We note with satisfaction the proximity of Moscow's and Cairo's views on regional security and the fight against terrorism and extremism," Shoigu said as he opened the plenary session. - "It is important to counter these threats together, which have become another convenient tool in the hands of Western powers".

 



The Russian defense minister confirmed his intention to continue active cooperation with Egypt in strengthening security and stability in the Middle East and North Africa.


He noted that in spite of the restrictions imposed worldwide due to the coronavirus infection, the dynamics of Russian-Egyptian contacts remain at a high level.


Shoigu also thanked his Egyptian colleagues for their participation in the Army-2021 forum and the Army International Games. "I consider it a sign of reliable and promising cooperation between the military departments of our countries. We are always happy to see our Egyptian friends in Russia," Shoigu said.
