FSB prevented two terrorist attacks on the eve of the May holiday in the Stavropol Krai

The Federal Security Service of Russia prevented two terrorist attempts in the Stavropol Krai on the eve of the May holiday prepared by supporters of the banned in Russia international terrorist organization Islamic State. This was reported to TASS by the Center for Public Relations (CPR) of the FSB.


"The Federal Security Service in April this year on the eve of the May holidays on the territory of Stavropol Krai prevented two attempts to commit terrorist acts by supporters of the international terrorist organization (ITO) Islamic State banned on the territory of the Russian Federation," stressed the CPR.


According to the special service, a resident of Stavropol, who swore allegiance to one of the leaders of the IS with the purpose of subsequent committing a terrorist attack on transport infrastructure facilities in the region using an improvised incendiary device, was detained. "During the same period, a citizen of a Central Asian country who arrived in Stavropol to prepare and commit crimes of a terrorist nature was detained in the territory of the region," the FSB reported.


Means of terrorism were found and seized from the garage of one detainee. At the place of residence of the second explosives and submunitions, bought for the manufacture of an improvised explosive device, were withdrawn.


The investigating authorities initiated and are investigating the criminal cases under Part 1 Article 30, Part 2 Article 205 and Part 2 Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code ("Preparation of a terrorist act and assistance to terrorist activities").
