A member of a banned extremist Association is detained in Dagestan

In Dagestan, FSB officers detained a member of an extremist religious association banned in Russia. This was reported in the PSC of the FSB of Russia.


"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation together with the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the framework of the criminal case initiated under part 1 of article 282.2 of the criminal code of the Russian Federation detained an active member of the  "At-Takfir Wal-Hijra" extremist religious association," the message reads.


According to law enforcement authorities, the detainee propagated radical ideology, as well as engaged in recruiting and coordinating the activities of new members of the group.


In particular, the extremist called on his supporters to reject secular laws and civil society institutions in order to create a "state with a radical form of religious government."


"The detainee makes a confession, the issue of choosing a preventive measure is being discussed," the FSB added.
