Two militants have been neutralized during an anti-terrorist operation in the Buynaksk district of Dagestan. The information center of the National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NAC) told TASS that automatic weapons, ammunition and IEDs were found at the site of the shooting.
"Tonight, while carrying out operational and investigative measures related to the search for individuals intending to commit crimes of terrorist orientation, security agencies discovered two armed bandits in the forest area of the Buynaksky district of the Republic of Dagestan," the NAC reported.
The head of the republican FSB department decided to introduce a counter-terrorist operation mode. The bandits were asked to lay down their weapons and surrender to the authorities. "In response, they opened fire on law enforcement officers and were neutralized in the course of the fighting. Automatic weapons and ammunition were found at the scene of the shooting, and a ready-to-use IED was found in the criminals' car," the NAC reported.
There were no losses among law enforcement officers and no civilian casualties. The FSB officers are carrying out search and investigation operations.
