Three residents of Ingushetia were detained on suspicion of aiding and abetting the terrorists of the Caucasus Emirate gang, which is banned in Russia. One of the suspects told about a cache that contained firearms, ammunition and an improvised explosive device, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation said in a statement.
"As part of an investigation into a criminal case against the leaders and members of the terrorist community the Caucasus Emirate (recognized as a terrorist and banned on the territory of the Russian Federation by a decision of the Russian Supreme Court), Kureysh Dzhandigov, Islam Zhandigov, and Adam Khashiyev were detained. One of the detainees gave up a cache containing firearms, ammunition and an improvised explosive device," the report says.
According to the investigators, in 2020 the detainees helped the wanted members of the terrorist organization by finding them a house for a secret accommodation, by providing reconnaissance of the area and safe movement around the republic, transportation of weapons and food supply.
"They were accused of committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 208 ("Participation in the activities of an illegal armed formation") and Part 2 of Article 205.5 ("Participation in the activities of a terrorist organization") of the Criminal Code. The investigation petitions the court for a preventive measure in the form of custody in respect of the three detainees," the office specified.
The investigation is being conducted in cooperation with the Federal Security Service of Russia and the FSB of Russia in Ingushetia.
