Three leaders of the Hizb ut-Tahrir terrorist organization were detained in Crimea

The FSB of Russia has detained three leaders and four active participants of the terrorist organization "Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami", banned in Russia, the Center for Public Relations (CPS) of the FSB reported TASS on Tuesday.

 

"FSB employees in cooperation with the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Guard in the Republic of Crimea suppressed the activities of a cell of the Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami international terrorist organization,  detained three leaders and four active members," the FSB said.

 

According to the intelligence service, the detainees were engaged in anti-constitutional activities based on the doctrine of the so-called world caliphate, destruction of secular institutions and aimed at overthrowing the current government by force.  "With the use of conspiracy measures during the meetings, they spread terrorist ideology among the inhabitants of the peninsula, recruiting Crimean Muslims into their ranks," the report reads.


A significant number of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami propaganda materials, communications equipment, and electronic media  were seized from detainees.  Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the detainees," the message concluded.
