Three groups from Qatar will participate for the first time in the International Military Music Festival "Spasskaya Tower" to be held on the Red Square in Moscow from August 27 to September 5. This was reported to TASS by the festival's directorate.
"For the first time at the "Spasskaya Tower" International Military Music Festival, servicemen from Qatar will perform. Three military bands - the Military Band, the Military Band of the Armed Forces of Qatar and the Police Band - will represent the Middle Eastern country, which will host the FIFA World Cup next year," the statement says.
The management of the event stressed that the Military Band of the Armed Forces of Qatar has extensive experience of performance at international music forums. It is a large ensemble, which includes a symphony orchestra, horse and camel orchestras and a folklore ensemble.
"Since 1973, at the invitation of its friends and partners, the orchestra has participated in military music festivals in Bahrain, the USA, France, the UAE, Oman, Italy, Germany, as well as in a music festival at China Expo - 2010," the statement said.
The Qatar Police Orchestra is the main musical division of the country's Interior Ministry. It consists of 218 musicians who play brass, percussion and other musical instruments. "The Police Orchestra had the honor of accompanying the opening of the 13th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Qatar, which was attended by the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. "In its performances, the orchestra performs both military marches and folk music, using not only classical brass instruments, but also national instruments," the organizers of the Spasskaya Tower said.
The Qatar Armed Forces Parade Troop, created in 2016, includes soldiers who performed best in basic formation training. "In 2017, the band was trained to participate in parades without musical accompaniment ("silent" parades) under the guidance of local instructors, and in 2018, instructors from the Republic of Belarus joined in. In three years of hard and diligent work, the Qatari servicemen managed to hone their skills to a level that allows them to perform with dignity at state events of military and civilian nature, as well as to demonstrate formation techniques in front of the general public," the directorate noted.
