The 9th parliamentary forum "Historical and cultural heritage of Russia" will be held in Dagestan in the year of the 100th anniversary of Rasul Gamzatov. This was reported to TASS on Friday by Dagestan minister of culture Zarema Butaeva.
" The VIII parliamentary forum "Historical and cultural heritage of Russia", organized by the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation together with the regional government, ended in Yaroslavl. There we voiced the idea proposed by the head of the region Sergey Melikov to hold the next parliamentary forum in Dagestan, in honor of the 100th anniversary of Rasul Gamzatov in 2023. The forum was attended by Federation Council speaker Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko, who fully supported the idea," the agency's interlocutor said.
According to her, structural subdivisions of the Ministry of culture of Dagestan have already been instructed to prepare for the event.
"Dagestan has many ancient monuments, monuments of the national historical heritage. And the region has its own special features and traditions. It seems to me that this proposal is very correct," the press service of the Ministry of culture of Dagestan quoted Matvienko as saying.
Earlier, Russian president Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of poet Rasul Gamzatov. The celebration will be organized in 2023, "taking into account the significant contribution of Rasul Gamzatov to national culture."
The president instructed the government to establish an organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the celebration, as well as to ensure the development and approval of the plan of major events within six months.
President Putin's acquaintance with Gamzatov
Putin was acquainted with Rasul Gamzatov, the president often cites the poet's work as an example of the contribution that Dagestan has made to Russian culture. The head of state called Gamzatov a wonderful man, an example to follow not only in Dagestan, but in Russia as a whole.
Rasul Gamzatov was born in the Dagestani village of Tsada on September 8, 1923. His work is known not only in Dagestan and Russia, but also throughout the world. Gamzatov wrote dozens of poetry, prose and journalism books in Avar and Russian, including "High Stars," "Writings," "The Year of My Birth". Many of the poet's poems were set to music.
Gamzatov died on November 3, 2003. He is buried in an old Muslim cemetery in the Dagestani village of Tarki at the foot of Mount Tarki-Tau.
