Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed upon the truce with the participation of the international community from September 14 at 20:00 (19:00 Moscow time). Secretary of the country's Security Council Armen Grigoryan said this on the air of the Armenian Public Television channel.
"Thanks to the participation of the international community, it was possible to agree on a ceasefire with Azerbaijan on September 14 from 8 p.m.," Grigoryan said.
The Armenian defense ministry reported on Tuesday night that Azerbaijani armed forces units opened heavy fire in the direction of Goris, Sotq and Jermuk settlements using artillery, large-caliber and small arms fire. The Armenian security council held an emergency meeting and decided to ask for help from Russia to invoke the provisions of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, as well as from the CSTO and the UN Security Council. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told parliament on Wednesday that 105 soldiers had been killed.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, for his part, stressed that the country's armed forces were retaliating, putting the responsibility for what was happening on the Armenian military and political leadership. The defense ministry of Azerbaijan reported the deaths of 50 servicemen.
