First President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev was infected with the coronavirus, a message posted on his website reads.
At the same time, it is noted that there is no cause for concern, he continues to work remotely.
The state of emergency in connection with the spread of coronavirus was in effect in Kazakhstan from March 16 to May 11, but quarantine measures are still in place in various regions of the Republic. In the Republic, 15,877 cases of the coronavirus infection were detected, 9,902 people recovered, and 100 died.
Nazarbayev, who led Kazakhstan for almost 30 years, resigned as head of state on March 19, 2019. At the same time, he retained the posts of Chairman of the Security Council of the Republic, the ruling party "Nur Otan" ("Light of the Fatherland"), the Assembly of People of Kazakhstan, a member of the Constitutional Council, and has the status of an honorary Senator.

The Cabinet of Ministers noted that special attention was paid to joint measures to combat the spread of COVID-19. "The head of the Russian government sent to the first President of Kazakhstan – Elbasy (Leader of the nation-ed.) Nursultan Nazarbayev warm words of support and wishes for a speedy recovery, " the message reads.
