Russia will assist Russian citizens who wish to leave Syria, according to Mikhail Bogdanov, Russia’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister.
“If anyone wants to leave, of course, we will help,” he told reporters in response to a question from TASS. “But this requires direct agreements with local authorities who control, or should control, security matters.”
Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova emphasized that the safety of Russian citizens in Syria remains an absolute priority for Russia.
