The coordinators of mass riots were detained in Minsk, the Belarusian state TV channel ONT reported.
"One of the detainees rented a room on the 17th floor of the hotel "Belarus". From there, the Minsk resident coordinated the actions. The man controlled the actions of three subordinates. They in turn managed hundreds," the channel said in a telegram message.
On August 9, Belarus held presidential elections. According to the CEC, Alexander Lukashenko, who has been leading the country for more than 26 years, won. The opposition did not recognize the results.
In the evening of the same day, citizens dissatisfied with the organization and results of voting took to the streets, and mass unauthorized protest actions continue for the third day. The most difficult situation is in the capital: demonstrators build barricades and refuse to disperse, security forces use water cannons, tear gas, stun grenades and rubber bullets to disperse.
