Iran Consults with Russia and China on Nuclear Program

10 March

Iran is holding talks with Russia and China to build trust around its nuclear program and push for the lifting of sanctions, according to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. His statement was published on X.

“We are currently consulting with the 'E3' (the UK, Germany, and France) – and separately with Russia and China – on an equal footing and with mutual respect. The goal is to explore ways to enhance transparency regarding our nuclear program in exchange for the removal of illegal sanctions imposed on Iran,” Araghchi emphasized.

He reiterated that Tehran will not negotiate under pressure or intimidation, stressing that these discussions have “nothing to do with coercion or diktats.” He also reaffirmed that Iran’s nuclear program has always been and will remain purely peaceful.

On March 7, US President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that he had sent a message to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, proposing talks on Tehran’s nuclear program. Khamenei, responding to Trump’s letter, stated that Iran will not engage in negotiations with the US, arguing that “Washington only cares about its own interests.”
