The Russian defense ministry will receive the first missile-carrying airplane Tu-160M of new construction for the following state tests and introduction into service by the end of the second quarter of 2022, Russian Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told reporters on Friday.
"I believe that the president's decision to resume production of the Tu-160 already in a new guise was absolutely timely. <...> We were able to implement this task in the shortest possible time. Because initially and by the contract it was supposed to be delivered at the end of 2023, and we will hand the machine over to the ministry of defense by the end of the second quarter for further state tests and armament," Manturov said.
