Palestine Accuses Israel of Orchestrating Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza Strip

28 February

Israel is the mastermind behind the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the Gaza Strip, a deliberate strategy aimed at collectively punishing 2.3 million Palestinians, asserted Riyad Mansour, Palestinian Permanent Observer to the UN, during a Security Council session.

"Israeli authorities openly declared their intent to 'teach the Palestinians a lesson' in Gaza, flagrantly disregarding international law," Mansour emphasized.

Furthermore, Mansour accused Israel of "blatantly disregarding" the ruling of the UN International Court of Justice and continuing "horrific crimes of genocide, including the use of starvation as a method of warfare."

Earlier reports by Maurizio Martina of the Food and Agriculture Organization revealed the dire situation, with over 378,000 individuals in the enclave facing severe food shortages, marked by exhaustion, critical malnutrition levels, and increased mortality rates.

South Africa filed a lawsuit against Israel at the UN International Court of Justice, seeking precautionary measures to safeguard Palestinian rights. The court's ruling on January 26 mandated Israel to take all necessary actions to prevent genocide in Gaza. Recent reports suggest Israel submitted a compliance report to the court on February 25, purportedly detailing adherence to international rules of engagement, as reported by South African radio station SABC.
