Putin discussed the developments in Syria and Libya with Erdogan

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the leaders discussed the developments in Syria and Libya, the Kremlin's press service reports.


"Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. They paid special attention to the crisis in Libya. And reaffirmed the need for the conflicting sides to take real steps to reach a sustainable ceasefire and to launch direct talks in keeping with the resolutions of the Berlin Conference and UN Security Council Resolution 2510," the message reads.


In addition, the two presidents discussed the developments in Syria "with a focus on stepping up joint counter-terrorist efforts".  The leaders agreed to further coordinate their actions in the execution of the agreements between Russia and Turkey on the Idlib de-escalation zone, primarily the Additional Protocol to the 2018 Sochi Memorandum, adopted on March 5, 2020 in Moscow.


The presidents also touched upon other topical international issues, in particular, the Middle East settlement.
