Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday submitted for ratification to the State Duma the agreement with Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of security. The text is published in the Duma electronic database.
The document was signed in Moscow on April 10, 2003. "The agreement provides that the parties cooperate in the fight against international terrorism, organized crime, economic crimes, crimes against transport security, illicit drug trafficking, legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime, illegal migration, smuggling, including the illegal export of cultural property," the explanatory note says.
The parties to the agreement "also cooperate in the field of environmental safety and protection".
"The agreement stipulates that the parties hold regular consultations on issues of mutual interest," the explanatory materials say.
