17 July 2019

Representatives of the Russian Council of Muftis received a delegation of the Hamas resistance movement led by the deputy chairman of its Political Bureau, Mousa Abu Marzook

The main topic of discussion was the situation in Palestine.

First Deputy Chairman of the Russia Muftis Council  (RMC) and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation (RBMRF) Rushan Abbyasov noted that the situation in the Gaza strip remains difficult.

The RMC and RBMRF  leadership, he said, closely monitors the situation and tries to provide any possible assistance to the people of Palestine.

"The Muslims of Russia pray for an early resolution of this conflict and express their hope that the Palestinian leaders will overcome all the differences and achieve inter-Palestinian unity. Russia plays an important role in the Middle East. Foreign policy and diplomatic activity of our state are always aimed at establishing peace and stability on earth, and we – Russian Muslims, fully support this course. All decisions in the region should be taken upon the international discussion and approval on the basis of international law and adopted resolutions,"  the press service quotes Abbyasov.

In his turn,  Abu Marzook noted that Palestine highly appreciates dialogue with the Russian  MFA  and its support for Palestinians in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
