Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Egyptian Ambassador discussed preparations for upcoming NPT conference

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and Egyptian Ambassador to Moscow Nazih El-Nagari discussed preparations for the upcoming Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) Review Conference in January 2022 as well as arms control issues at a meeting on Friday.


"There was a lively exchange of views on current issues of arms control and the nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD). Particular attention was paid to preparations for the upcoming NPT review conference in January 2022," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on its website on Friday.


The 10th NPT Review Conference, postponed due to the pandemic from May 2020, is expected to take place from January 4 to 28, 2022, in New York. There are 191 states parties to the NPT.
