05 May 2022

Russia will hold planned consultations with the Palestinian movement Hamas on Thursday, Mikhail Bogdanov, Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, told TASS.

"They [talks] are planned today," he said in response to a related question.

The Donia Al-Watan news portal earlier reported that emissaries of the Palestinian Hamas movement arrived in Moscow on May 3, where they intend to hold a series of meetings with Russian officials. The delegation included Musa Abu Marzouk, deputy chairman of Hamas' Executive Committee abroad, and two other members of the Hamas leadership, Fathi Hamad and Husam Badran. The newspaper notes that at the talks in the Russian capital, they plan to discuss the situation around Jerusalem, the Palestinian dossier in general, and relations with Russia.

The last time the movement's delegation visited Moscow was at the end of December last year.
