The intensity of military cargo shipments and movements of US-led coalition equipment in eastern Syria has increased, which is a cause for concern, Rear Admiral Alexander Karpov, deputy head of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Warring Parties in the Syrian Arab Republic, said on Thursday.

"The increase in the intensity of air shipments of military cargoes and ground movements of convoys of military equipment of the US-led coalition forces in the eastern regions of the Syrian Arab Republic is causing concern," he said.

According to him, Syria is capable of coping with terrorist cells on its territory on its own, and the presence of military contingents of coalition countries in the country "is illegal and contradicts the norms of international law." "The actions of the US command to build up its military presence in the Euphrates Region against the background of the extreme socio-economic situation created by the strangling US sanctions are seriously damaging to the prospects of a political settlement," Karpov added.

According to the Center, the Russian side continues its efforts to restore peaceful life in the Tay district of Qamishli, which was the site of clashes in late April. Due to the lack of functioning hospitals in the area, residents were in dire need of qualified medical assistance. "The Russian Center for the Reconciliation of the Warring Parties conducted a humanitarian action, during which Russian military medics provided medical assistance to 203 local residents, including 135 children. More than 400 food kits were distributed to those in need," the report said.
