Egypt has declared it unacceptable to violate the rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to land, whether such violations are temporary or permanent. This stance was outlined in a statement released by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Egypt rejected any infringement on those inalienable rights, whether by settlement or annexation of land, or by the depopulation of that land of its people through displacement, encouraged transfer or the uprooting of Palestinians from their land, whether temporarily or long-term,” the statement read. Cairo emphasized that such actions “could destabilize the region and further fuel the spread of conflict in the Middle East.”
In this context, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry called on the international community to “take concrete steps toward implementing the two-state solution to establish an independent Palestinian state encompassing the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem, within the borders of 1967.”
The statement came in response to remarks made by US President Donald Trump on January 25. Speaking to reporters, Trump suggested the possibility of resettling Gaza residents displaced by Israeli military operations in neighboring Arab countries. According to Trump, this involves relocating 1.5 million people outside of Gaza. He noted that he had already discussed the matter with Jordan's King Abdullah II and planned to address it during a phone call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi scheduled for January 26.
