A delegation of the Federation Council headed by Vice-Speaker Konstantin Kosachev will take part in the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the senators will discuss issues of peaceful coexistence, cybercrime and the formation of an inclusive society. This was reported on Friday by the press service of the upper house of parliament.
"From March 11 to 15, a delegation of the Federation Council will take part in the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The delegation will be headed by Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev," the statement said.
It is noted that the theme of the general discussion will be the promotion of peaceful coexistence, the fight against intolerance and the formation of an inclusive society. "The agenda of the assembly includes discussion of resolutions on cyberattacks and cybercrimes as new risks to global security, as well as parliamentary efforts to achieve a negative carbon balance of forests," the press service informs.
In addition, the senators will take part in the work of the standing committees on peace and international security, on sustainable development and on democracy and human rights. The 35th session of the Forum of Women Parliamentarians and the 49th session of the Bureau of Women Parliamentarians, which will be attended by Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Galina Karelova, are also scheduled to take place on the platform of the assembly. It is also expected to have a coordination meeting of the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO member states to the Inter-Parliamentary Union (through the CSTO PA) and bilateral talks with representatives from India and the Republic of Belarus.
The delegation of the Federation Council will also include Andrei Denisov, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Alexei Mayorov, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management and Andrei Klimov, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs.
