The FSB stopped the activities of one of the ringleaders of banned ISIS, who was planning terrorist attacks on the territory of the Moscow region and in Novosibirsk, the press service of the Federal Security Service in Moscow and the Moscow region told TASS.
"The FSB of Russia stopped the illegal activities of one of the ringleaders of the Islamic State international terrorist organization (banned on the territory of Russia), citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan Nazarov T.M., born 1989. Being аn ISIS supporter, he created a terrorist cell with the aim of committing sabotage and terrorist acts in the Moscow region and in Novosibirsk using improvised explosive devices that he planned to detonate in crowded places, including Russian Railways facilities," the report reads.
The press service noted that the ringleader recruited citizens of Tajikistan into the IS cell and also organized illegal manufacturing, acquisition and storage of explosive devices, firearms and ammunition. "As a result of cooperation with foreign partners, the Federal Security Service of Russia identified and detained Nazarov T. M. on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic and then brought him to Russia. In the course of the operation, the terrorists of the cell were detained and criminally prosecuted. The terrorist cell was thus dismantled. The conducted investigative actions collected comprehensive evidence of Nazarov's guilt," added in the FSB.
Also, the verdict of the 2nd Western district military court found Nazarov guilty of 21 crimes under Articles 205, 205.1, 205.4 and 205.5 of the Criminal Code (organization and participation in terrorist activities), 222, 222.1 (illegal acquisition, storage or carrying of weapons, ammunition and explosives), 223.1 (illegal manufacturing of explosives, explosive devices). He is currently sentenced to life imprisonment and fined 1.5 million rubles.
