The Iraqi paramilitary group Alwiyat al-Waad al-Haqq has claimed responsibility for a drone attack on United Arab Emirates (UAE) territory. This was reported Thursday night by the Yemeni news portal Al-Masdar online, citing a statement from the Houthi rebel Ansar Allah movement's media center.
"The Alwiyat al-Waad al-Haqq command claimed responsibility for Wednesday morning's drone operation in the direction of [Emirati territory]," the Houthis statement stressed.
Earlier, the UAE Ministry of Defense had informed about the destruction of three drones that were intercepted in the country's airspace on Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, a statement circulated by the insurgents reported about four drones the Iraqi group launched in the direction of UAE territory.
In late January, Alwiyat al-Waad al-Haqq, which has close ties with the Iraqi-based pro-Iranian group Kataib Hezbollah, claimed responsibility for one of the drone attacks on Saudi territory.
