Jordanian Foreign Ministry Deems Eviction of Palestinians from Gaza a Red Line

10 July

Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi warned Israel against any attempts to forcibly displace the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip during a joint press conference in Cairo with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel Aty.

"Egypt and Jordan will consider the forcible displacement of Palestinians outside the occupied territory [Gaza Strip] a red line; for us, it is totally unacceptable," al-Safadi stated, as quoted by Al Mamlaka TV.

The Jordanian foreign minister accused Israel of attempting to dismantle the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees and the broader Palestinian issue simultaneously. He claimed that Israel "continues to commit crimes unprecedented in modern history," citing the July 9 shelling of a school in Khan Younis, which killed 29 displaced people.

Al-Safadi called on the international community to "take action to stop this aggression and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza." He stressed that it is unacceptable to "place the fate of the Middle East in the hands of the most extremist government in Israel's history" and to allow Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his ministers to impose their agenda.
