Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has told reporters about how Russia intends to respond to the US withdrawal from the Treaty on Medium and Short Range Missiles.
According to him, Russia will not create and deploy medium-range and shorter-range missiles in those regions where similar US systems do not appear.
“As for the consequences of the US withdrawal from the Treaty on Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles, President Putin very clearly highlighted our position - we will act mirror-like”, the Minister claimed.
Also, in Lavrov's opinion, the United States suspended its participation in the Treaty and announced its withdrawal. In accordance with the document, the withdrawal process takes six months.
This means that already in early August of this year, the United States will not legally suspend the fulfillment of its obligations under this Treaty, but non-parties.
“We, I will stress once again, are ready not to place anything from this category of weapons in those regions where American production systems do not appear”, the Head of the Russian Diplomatic Department stated.
