Russia does not seek to confront the United States but will respond adequately to aggressive attacks from Washington, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"We are realistic about the prospects of the Russian-American dialogue, especially in the context of the difficult domestic political situation in the United States and the upcoming presidential elections. Washington's recent unfriendly moves are a clear indication of this. For our part, we will continue to take all necessary measures to ensure our own security, the interests of Russian citizens and businesses, and respond adequately to aggressive attacks. At the same time, we do not seek confrontation ourselves," the Agency quoted the Russian Foreign Minister as saying.
