Russian-Turkmen consultations were held in Ashgabat at the level of Deputy Foreign Ministers in charge of international cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues in the field of countering international terrorism and extremism and confirmed the unity of the two countries ' approaches to building work in the counter-terrorism area with the central coordinating role of the UN and its Security Council.
Particular attention was paid to strengthening cooperation in identifying and suppressing sources and channels of terrorist financing, countering the spread of extremist ideology and cross-border movements of foreign terrorist fighters, as well as coordinating positions on key multilateral platforms.
