The FSB of Russia conducted the largest special operation to stop the activities of clandestine gunsmiths, 42 people were detained, and 22 clandestine workshops for the modernization of weapons equipped with 3D printers were identified. This was reported to TASS on Monday in the Center for Public Relations (CPR) of the FSB.
"The Federal security service in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia and Rosgvardiya in 12 regions suppressed the activities of 42 persons involved in the modernization of civilian weapons in combat analogs, the manufacture of ammunition in underground workshops and their sale in various regions of the country," the FSB said.
According to the special service, during the special operation, the activities of 22 underground workshops for the modernization of weapons and the workshops of cartridges were suppressed. The FSB reported that the workshops were equipped with specialized equipment, including 3D printers and numerical control machines.
The special operation was carried out in Moscow, the Moscow region, Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia, Chechnya, Krasnoyarsk krai, Amur, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Irkutsk, Rostov and Kemerovo regions. "Operational search measures and investigative actions were carried out at the addresses of illegal gunsmiths," the FSB reported. As a result, 179 units of military and civilian firearms, as well as weapons with restored combat properties, were seized from illegal circulation. The seized items include a PCM machine gun, AK-74, AKMS, AKS-74U submachine guns, PPSh, PPS, Kedr, MR-40, SA, MR-5, Mosin rifles and carbines, SVT, SKS, SVD, Saiga, Tiger, Mauser, AR-15, M-16, AUG, GM-15, POF, Barret. Also, pistols and revolvers TT, PM, APS, Korovin, Grand Power, Glock, Colt, Mauser, Parabellum, Walther, Luger, Beretta, Norinco, Taurus, revolver Nagana system, as well as 17 hand grenades "F-1", RGD-5, RGO, RGN, about 15 kg of explosives (gunpowder, TNT), 110 detonators of various modifications, more than 80 thousand rounds of various calibers, a large number of main parts and components of weapons (barrels, drums, bolts, trigger mechanisms) were seized.
