Several members of a terrorist cell that financed the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization banned in Russia have been detained in the Moscow region. This was reported to TASS on Thursday by the press service of the Federal Security Service's Moscow and the Moscow region.
"As a result of operational and investigative measures implemented by the Russian Federal Security Service in Moscow and the Moscow region, the criminal activities of a concealed interregional terrorist cell, whose members financed the international terrorist organization Islamic State, were suppressed on the territory of the Moscow region. The perpetrators were detained," said the FSB.
According to the FSB, members of the cell - citizens of Russia - transferred more than 100 thousand rubles from bank cards to the identified organizer of the channel financing IS, which is on the international wanted list for particularly serious crimes, including terrorist nature. Based on FSB materials, Moscow investigators opened a criminal case against the detainees for aiding and abetting terrorist activities.
