The officers prevented terrorist acts in the Moscow region, which were prepared by members of a cell of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (banned in Russia), the FSB reported.

"An improvised explosive device stuffed with striking elements, other items and documents were found and seized at the locations of the radical Islamists," the release says.

The security forces managed to detain a member of the group, a citizen of one of the Central Asian countries, in the Vladimir region. The location of the other suspects is not specified.

The FSB also has information that members of the cell recruited potential fighters and collected money for terrorists.
Only in the last couple of months, this is at least the fourth case of suppression of terrorist attacks in Russia. This autumn, law enforcement agencies prevented terrorist attacks in Moscow, Volgograd and Stavropol.

Overall, according to FSB reports, potential attacks are counted in the dozens every year. According to service head Alexander Bortnikov, more than 150 terrorist attacks have been prevented in Russia in ten years.

At the same time, the FSB has repeatedly noted that it pays special attention to the spread of radical Islam among migrant workers and in the colonies where already convicted terrorists are held. Another key line of work is tracking the militants who have returned to Russia from the wars in Syria and Iraq.
