The Russian FSB eliminated two extremist cells in Karachay-Cherkessia and Dagestan, the FSB Public Relations Center told TASS.
"The Federal Security Service in Malokarachayevsky district of Karachayevo-Cherkessia Republic and in Makhachkala, Kaspiysk and Izberbash cities of Dagestan Republic suppressed the activity of two cells of international extremist religious association "At-Takfir wal-Hijra" banned in Russia with total number of more than 20 people", the PRC informed.
"The Takfirites actively promoted radical ideology and recruited new supporters to the extremist religious sect. "They called on believers to reject secular laws and civil society institutions, and advocated the establishment of a theocratic Islamic state - the caliphate - in the North Caucasus," the FSB said.
During the searches, three grenades with combat fuses, three PM pistols, cartridges of various calibers, a hunting rifle cut, cold weapons, 190 copies of pseudo-religious literature, five handwritten texts with records of lectures of radical preachers and six notebooks with financial records were seized. FSB officers also seized a large number of flash drives and CDs that contained extremist materials.
Investigative subdivisions of FSB of Russia for the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic and the Dagestan Republic initiated criminal cases under which the organization members will be established and brought to responsibility.
