Islamic state supporters who were preparing terrorist attacks in schools and hospitals were detained in Rostov-on-don

The FSB neutralized a group of supporters of the banned international terrorist organization "Islamic state" in the Rostov region, who planned attacks on schools and hospitals, the Center for public relations of the FSB of Russia reports.


"The FSB of Russia on the territory of the Rostov region uncovered and suppressed the activities of a secret cell of supporters of the "Islamic state", which included six residents of the region from among the citizens of one of the Central Asian countries and Russia. They prepared attacks on police officers and planned to commit terrorist acts in medical and educational institutions, " the FSB reported.


It is noted that when the FSB special forces tried to detain the leader of the group in the Azov region, he first fired at the security forces with a machine gun, and then committed suicide. None of the civilians and law enforcement officers were injured during the special operation. In Rostov-on-don, the remaining five members of the group were detained.


"An improvised explosive device, automatic firearms and ammunition, as well as narcotic drugs were found and seized during searches at the residential addresses of the detainees and the inspection of the scene," the FSB reported.


Criminal cases were initiated under article 205 of the criminal code ("Terrorist act"), 222 ("Illegal arms trafficking"), 317 ("Assault on the life of a law enforcement officer").
