Algeria Begins Recognizing Russian Halal Certificates

13 September

The Russian halal certification body, “Roskachestvo-Halal,” has been officially accredited in Algeria, allowing halal certificates for Russian products to be accepted in the country without requiring additional audits by Algerian authorities. This was reported by TASS, citing information from Roskachestvo.

“All agricultural products requiring mandatory certification will now be accepted in Algeria with certificates issued by the Russian certification body 'Roskachestvo-Halal,'” the statement confirmed.

In Algeria, products that must undergo halal certification include meat and animal-based products, oils and animal fats, and confectionery items such as chocolate, cakes, and cookies. Other certified goods include food additives derived from animals or those that may not comply with halal standards due to their production methods, dairy derivatives like caseinates, all cheeses intended for processing or the food industry, infant formulas, supplementary mixes, and rennet enzymes.

Russian halal certificates are already recognized in several Gulf countries, as well as in Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Pakistan. All certificates issued by Roskachestvo-Halal are listed in the state information system of RusAccreditation.
