Russia is ready to transfer to Turkey the necessary number of doses of the Sputnik V  vaccine against the new coronavirus for various examinations, as well as for post-registration studies of the drug, Alexander Gintsburg, the head of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology of the Russian Ministry of Health, which developed the Sputnik V vaccine, said on Thursday.

"As far as I know, we are now talking about providing this drug to the Turkish side. I can assure you that within the framework of these agreements, which are determined by the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), the Russian Ministry of Health, we are ready to receive our Turkish colleagues, discuss all the details and in the near future transfer the necessary number of doses of drugs, first of all for conducting various toxicological examinations. <...>.As well as transferring the drugs in order to start the third phase of clinical trials in Turkey already on volunteers," he said in an interview with the Russia-24 TV channel.

Gintsburg also noted that today RDIF, with the participation of the Gamaleya Center, is negotiating the supply and production of Sputnik V with dozens of countries. "All these negotiations are at different stages - somewhere trial production has already begun, somewhere clinical trials are underway in the framework of the third phase so that the regulatory authorities of the country where these trials are taking place can be convinced of the quality of the drug," the scientist added.

Earlier the Turkish newspaper Haberturk, citing a statement by Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca, wrote that Ankara refused to buy the Russian vaccine Sputnik V. The Turkish Health Ministry later issued an official denial of the Turkish newspaper's article about the ministry's refusal to buy the Russian vaccine.
