The "Chestny Znak" labeling system will now allow consumers to verify the quality of halal products, according to Andrey Kirillov, General Director of the Center for Advanced Technology Development (CPTD).
Kirillov announced that the system is already technically capable of automatically verifying halal certification through the "Chestny Znak" application.
"Producers can now link their halal compliance certificates to the 'Chestny Znak' system. This provides a competitive advantage. Any Muslim—of which there are over 20 million in Russia, and about four times that number if including EAEU countries and Uzbekistan—can, with one click, see where, when, and from what ingredients a product was made. This requires no additional investment from producers," Kirillov explained.
The Roskachestvo agency emphasized the growing demand for halal-certified goods and services, not only among Muslims but also among people of other faiths.
"Incorporating data on halal certificates, manufacturers, and products into the 'Chestny Znak' system will reduce counterfeits and poor-quality alternatives. It ensures product traceability from production to the end consumer, supports retailers in creating transparent halal product shelves, and builds consumer confidence that these products truly meet halal standards," said Marat Nizamov, Head of the Halal Competency Center at Roskachestvo.
